This project is for outdoor people. OUTDOOR literally means: outside the front door. It means that if you are an inhabitant of the planet THIS IS ALSO YOUR PROJECT.

ON THIS OCCASION THE DEMANDS OF UNITED MOUNTAINS OF EUROPE WILL BE PRESENTED IN FRONT OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT IN BRUSSELS
United Mountains of Europe for International Mountain Day
ON 11th OF DECEMBER 2021 THE DEMANDS OF UNITED MOUNTAINS OF EUROPE WILL BE PRESENTED IN FRONT OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT IN BRUSSELS
WHAT DO WE WANT?
Recognise
the need for a cultural shift that redefines the human-nature relationship in order to address the environmental crisis. Facilitate the role of the outdoor community in steering said shift.
Rethink
and reinforce EU legislation to support effective implementation of sustainable tourism systems and infrastructure.
Create
a joint working group bringing together stakeholders with diverse experience and knowledge of the Mountains and Members of the European Parliament to write the declaration of mountain rights, in order to support local communities and other concerned actors in the preservation of mountainous regions.
YES, we are doing it for real.
We are organising an event, with the help of the Belgian Alpine Club, outside of the EU parliament in Brussels.
To present these demands and the testimonies collected during the first part of the project
(a trip across the mountains of Europe)
- Show that the outdoor community is united in demanding – on paper and in fact – an immediate and effective ecological transition.
- Be the spokespeople of the need to radically rethink our relationship with the world around us
- Be part of the solutions: collaborate and co-create with politicians and the rest of society
- Bring the knowledge of the mountains to society
- Promote a new way of practicing mountain activities within an ethical model that is respectful and non-consumerist
- Foster the network between various realities committed to the sustainable preservation and promotion of mountainous regions.

ABOUT THE EVENT
Part One - The Think Tank
A introspective moment with the outdoor community to reflect on the community’s role to facilitate a human-nature cultural shift.
Part Two - A Gathering
A gathering to show to the European Parliament and the world that the outdoor community is united in the fight for preserving mountenous areas, and willing to impliment concrete solutions.
Part Three - A symbolic Act
The core team of United Mountains of Europe (Eline, Alessia, Sara and Adele) will march to the parliament as a culmination of their trip across the Mountains of Europe.
